Sausage Dodgers Racing
SDR sausage mascot in an Uncle Sam recruitment poster: We Want You
Applications open

Fancy pulling on the sausage colours?

More than a Discord tag. Racing under our colours, showing up for race nights, being one of the crew. Handful of spots, if it sounds like you.

Being on the SDR team is a mixed bag. Most nights it's racing hard and clean with a group of mates who take the racing seriously and themselves not seriously enough. Other nights it's chipping in when someone needs a setup pointer, or hanging around after the flag because the paddock chat's better than the result. It's not glamorous, it's not paid, and no one's polishing a CV off it. But if the idea of racing under our colours and being properly part of the crew sounds like your kind of thing, we'd like to hear from you.

Some folks who stick around end up wearing more hats over time. Writing recaps, stewarding on race nights, helping run the admin side of things. Get the application in, race with us, and see where it goes.

How it works

Four steps, all in Discord

  1. 1

    Open a ticket

Head to #sdr-applications and hit "Start Application". A private channel opens just for you.

  2. 2

    Fill in the questionnaire

Eleven questions in your channel. Covers who you are, your sim racing, and why SDR.

  3. 3

    Personality test

Take the Big Five at 123test.com/personality-test. Screenshot the result, drop it in.

  4. 4

    Sit back

Management reviews and gets in touch in your channel. No need to chase; we'll come to you.

What you'll be asked

The questionnaire, in advance

Eleven questions land in your channel once you hit "Start Application". Here they are so you can think about your answers before you start.

  1. 1.Role looking for (Driver / Staff / Comedian / etc)
  2. 2.Age and full name
  3. 3.Location
  4. 4.Primary sim and ratings (iRacing / ACC and iRating / Safety Rating)
  5. 5.Sim racing experience (hours or years)
  6. 6.Current or past leagues
  7. 7.Candidate pitch: what makes you a good fit for SDR
  8. 8.Clean record (any warnings or bans in other leagues)
  9. 9.Languages spoken and occupation
  10. 10.Bench press (mandatory)
  11. 11.Connections: which of our current grid or staff you know

Plus a Big Five personality test

Take it at 123test.com/personality-test, screenshot the result, drop it in your channel. It's not a filter, we just like knowing who we're racing with.

Questions people usually ask

Before you apply

  • Do I need to be fast?
No. Being fast is a nice-to-have. Being consistent and reasonable matters more.
  • How long until I hear back?
Usually within a week. If it's been two weeks and nothing, nudge us in your channel.
  • What if I'm not ready yet?
Stick around. Get involved in race nights, help out casually where you can, apply later.
  • Can I apply straight for a steward or admin role?
Not straight off. Everyone starts by racing with the team and being part of the crew; those roles come to people who've clearly shown they're the right fit for them, not off the back of a questionnaire. Mention what you're keen on in your pitch though, we do keep track.
  • Do I need to be a Patreon supporter?
    No.
  • Is the bench press question serious?
It's mandatory, but it's not a filter. Answer it however you like.
